Pilolo: The Campus Game Where You Hide, They Hunt, and Points Change Every Round

Remember hide-and-seek on the playground? Pilolo is that feeling, grown up, competitive, and built for campus life. It lives inside SpendByte, and every round flips the script: one minute you're hiding something clever, the next you're scanning the quad with your phone like a detective on a deadline.

No board. No dice. Just a map, a zone, a ticking clock, and whoever earns the most points when the game ends.

What is Pilolo?

Pilolo is a campus-wide hide-and-seek game where players enroll in a live session, get assigned a role each round, and compete for points and a spot on the leaderboard.

It isn't a solo scavenger hunt. It's a head-to-head social game: hiders try to outsmart seekers, seekers race the clock, and roles swap from round to round. You might be the hider in Round 1 and the one sprinting across campus with your camera up in Round 2.

That rotation is what keeps Pilolo fresh. You're never stuck in one lane for the whole game.

How to get in

When a Pilolo game is live on your campus, you'll see it from the Hunt tab in SpendByte. Tap in, read the rules, and hit Enroll in Pilolo.

Each game has a player cap and a set duration, so spots fill up fast. If you see "This game is full," you'll need to catch the next session or recruit friends to start one when your university runs the next round.

Once you're in, you're part of the action until the game ends. No spectating from the sidelines.

One round, two very different jobs

Every round pairs players into hiders and seekers. Your role drives everything you do next.

If you're the hider

Your job is simple to explain and hard to pull off: hide the treasure somewhere clever inside the zone.

  1. Get to the zone. Pilolo draws a search area on the map. You need to be inside it before you can lock in your hide.
  2. Pick your spot. Behind the bench everyone walks past? Tucked into a corner of the library steps? The better the hide, the more points you stand to earn.
  3. Mark the spot with your camera. You'll take photos of the hidden object from multiple angles (front, back, left, right). These aren't just for show; they're how the game knows what seekers are looking for.
  4. Validate your hide. Point your camera back at the object to confirm the spot. Once it's locked in, seekers can start hunting.

Then you wait, and hope nobody finds you too fast.

If you're the seeker

A treasure is hidden somewhere in the zone. Your tools are the map and your camera.

  1. Navigate the search area. The zone overlay on the map shows you where to look. No wandering off campus; the game keeps the hunt fair and focused.
  2. Scan suspect spots. Walk the zone and point your phone at places that look right. When you find the hidden item, SpendByte confirms the match on the spot.
  3. Claim your reward. First to verify the find wins the round. Speed matters. Seekers earn bonus points for finding the treasure quickly.

The round clock (and why it matters)

Pilolo isn't open-ended. Each round moves through clear phases:

  • Gather. Players get ready as the round spins up.
  • Hide. Hiders place and photograph their treasure.
  • Validate. The hide is confirmed before seekers are unleashed.
  • Search. Seekers hunt. The countdown is live. The pressure is real.
  • Found or timed out. Someone wins, or the round expires.

You'll see live status on the map: "Your turn to hide!", "Hunt is on!", "Seekers are searching…" so you're never guessing what phase you're in.

That pacing is the hook. Hiders feel the squeeze of the clock. Seekers feel the rush of a shrinking window. Every round has a beginning, a middle, and a nail-biting end.

Points that actually move

Pilolo isn't about playing once and calling it a day. Points stack across rounds, and the leaderboard updates as you play.

  • Hiders earn points for clever, well-hidden treasures.
  • Seekers earn points, with bonuses for fast finds.
  • Wins add up. Your standing reflects how often you come out on top, not just one lucky round.

Open the Leaderboard tab inside the game to see where you rank. Top players hit the podium. Everyone else can watch their position climb or slip as new rounds finish.

When the game ends, you'll know exactly where you landed. Bragging rights optional. Recommended.

Built for real campus life

Pilolo isn't a game you play on your couch. It's designed for walking around campus, between lectures, after class, with friends in tow.

The search zone keeps the game local and fair. You're not hunting across an entire city; you're competing in a space everyone shares. That makes hides creative (you know your campus) and hunts intense (so does everyone else).

And because it runs inside SpendByte, Pilolo sits alongside everything else the app offers: rewards, marketplace, wallet. The points you earn aren't just numbers on a screen. They're part of a bigger campus economy.

Ready to play?

If there's a Pilolo game live on your campus right now:

  1. Open SpendByte
  2. Go to the Hunt tab
  3. Select the active Pilolo game
  4. Tap Enroll in Pilolo
  5. Watch for your role when the next round starts

Hide smart. Hunt fast. Check the leaderboard before someone passes you.

Pilolo: where campus becomes the arena, roles flip every round, and the points never stay still for long.
